The children and families we work with are the reason for our work. Their dignity, privacy and safety come before our need for pictures.
Our commitments on photographs and video
- We take and publish identifiable photographs or video of a child only with the informed consent of a parent or guardian, and the child's agreement where they are old enough to give it.
- We explain what the image will be used for, including that it may appear on this website, before consent is given. Consent can be withdrawn at any time.
- Children are shown with dignity: appropriately dressed, never in a degrading or distressing situation, and never as a symbol of helplessness.
- We do not publish a child's full name together with their photograph, and we do not publish home addresses, school names or other details that could identify where a child can be found.
- Photographs are stripped of location and device data (metadata) before they are published.
- We ask search engines not to index images on this site.
Ask us to remove a photo
If you, your child or someone you are responsible for appears on this site and you want the picture removed, tell us. Email ohweapimfoundation@gmail.com with the subject "Photo removal request" and say which page it is on. You do not need to give a reason. We will take it down as soon as we can and confirm by email.
Keeping children safe
- We expect everyone who works with children for us to follow our code of conduct, to avoid being alone with a child where possible, and to report any concern straight away.
- Anyone with a worry about a child's safety, including by one of our own people, can contact us at the details below, or report to the Department of Social Welfare or the Ghana Police Service (Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit).
- We treat every concern seriously and keep reports confidential.
